Welcome to online Collegial Coaching. There are ten modules of the program, with texts, video clips and links to enable you to submit your responses to quizzes and assignments.
This online course is offered as a way of promoting and enabling the continuous improvement of pedagogy in the classroom. The major purpose of learning to be a coach is the development of a network of support for teachers as they try out new ideas or refine their present teaching practices. This is particularly important as teachers make significant shifts in practices that come from a different paradigm or a different mental model. The ultimate aim is to work towards a school-wide collegial coaching network that becomes part of what people do at this school.
Collegial Coaching is very different from most coaching approaches in that it based on Internal Control Psychology. It is not about changing someone’s teaching by telling them or showing them or even demonstrating for them. It gives the inviting teacher the power to make changes for themselves after exploring their beliefs about effective teaching and learning, examining the data from observations leading to self-evaluation and planning for change.
